Community Guidelines
Last updated: 30 October 2026, version 1.9
This is a translation for your convenience. The German version is legally binding.
ipixvent is a stage for video and photo Challenges, for on-site events and for livestreams. For that to work, three things are needed: fair competition, real people and safety. These guidelines say what that means day to day: what you may do, what you may not do, and what happens when someone breaks them.
The guidelines apply to everyone who uses ipixvent: users, organisers, jury members, managers of a Challenge and everyone who streams. They are part of the Terms of Use (general terms and conditions). For an individual Challenge, its terms of participation also apply; for XP and perks, the terms of the Season programme. Where these texts are stricter than the guidelines here, the stricter text applies. What the law prohibits is also prohibited here, even if it is not specifically listed below. How we handle your data, including for reports and actions, is set out in the Privacy Policy; what the website stores on your device, in the Cookie Policy.
- No tasks and no entries that risk serious injury. This applies to participants and to organisers.
- No violence, no hate, no harassment, no nudity, no recordings of people without their consent.
- One account per person, a real date of birth, no one else's name, no bought votes, no collusion, no bots.
- Only upload what you made yourself or what you hold the rights to. Music only from the app's library or with your own rights.
- Label paid entries. Ad spaces in the app are allocated only by ipixvent, and they are marked “Ad”.
- ipixvent is for ages 14+, and every Challenge has an age rating. Children under 14 do not belong in entries, except with the consent of their parents or guardians and never in a dangerous or sexualised context.
- Every action comes with reasons. You can appeal: support@ipixvent.com.
1. What these guidelines are for
On ipixvent, people compete against each other with their own videos and photos. Others rate them with stars, or a jury or the organiser does, and at the end there is a leaderboard, often with a real prize. A competition is only worth something if the entries are real, the votes are real and nobody has to risk anything for it that they shouldn't risk. That is exactly what these guidelines protect.
The guidelines are deliberately concrete. Where we give examples, they are examples, not an exhaustive list. Where we cite sections of law, the everyday sentence comes first and the section after it, so that you know what is meant without having to look it up.
These guidelines are part of your contract with ipixvent, the operator of ipixvent. They are also the description of our moderation within the meaning of Art. 14 of the Digital Services Act (DSA): what we restrict, how we review and how you can push back.
2. How we apply the guidelines
Two outcomes, nothing in between
An entry, a comment or a chat message stays or is removed; a Challenge with a real prize is approved or rejected. An intermediate level, where an entry stays but is shown less often, does not exist in the app today. What stays is treated the same as everything else.
Context matters
Documentary, educational, satirical and artistic content can stay, even if it would otherwise break a rule. A first-aid video shows an injury, a climbing course shows height, a news report shows violence. In those cases we require the context to be recognisable: from the entry itself, from the description or from the Challenge's task. If it is missing, the entry may be removed. There is no exception for sexualised depictions of minors, for terrorist propaganda or for instructions for criminal offences. Hate speech may only be shown in order to document or condemn it, and the context must be recognisable.
Everyone is an adult
ipixvent is for ages 14+, and every Challenge has an age rating (section 15). Whatever is too dangerous, too hurtful or too explicit for adults is too much for everyone — the rating does not permit more, it only excludes younger people.
People decide
Every action is taken by a person. Today no program checks the content of your entries, and entries are not looked at before they are published. The only exception: a Challenge with a real prize is approved before it goes public. More on this in section 17.
3. Safety in Challenges
This is the most important rule on this page, because Challenges tempt people to copy things. Whoever sets a task bears responsibility for those who want to complete it. Whoever completes it bears responsibility for themselves.
What we mean by “serious injury”
- Serious injury: an injury that usually needs medical treatment and can cause lasting damage. Examples: broken bones, severe burns, poisoning, concussion, suffocation, drowning, falls from height.
- Minor injury: an injury that generally does not need medical treatment. Examples: small cuts, bruises, grazes.
Not allowed
- Entries that show or instruct an action in which serious injury is likely or visibly occurs. This includes dares, bets and “trends” in which people put themselves or others in danger.
- Traffic: driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, racing on public roads, stunts on moving vehicles, filming while driving, distracting others in traffic.
- Height: climbing buildings, cranes, masts, bridges or roofs without safety gear; balancing on edges; jumping into water of unknown depth.
- Fire and explosions: playing with fire on the body, flammable liquids, home-made explosive devices, fireworks held in the hand or set off indoors.
- Weapons: handling firearms, striking weapons or stabbing weapons as a dare or a threat; pointing weapons at people, even if they are unloaded or not real.
- Drugs and alcohol: Challenges that are about drinking alcohol quickly or in large amounts; consumption of illegal drugs (Suchtmittelgesetz, the Austrian Narcotic Substances Act); misuse of medicines or chemicals.
- Eating and drinking: consuming things not meant for it (cleaning products, capsules, extremely spicy or hot substances in dangerous quantities); eating contests that risk choking.
- Self-harm as a task: tasks that require pain, choking, holding your breath until you pass out or similar. See also section 6.
- Putting others in danger: pranks that frighten, restrain or push people or send them into a panic; tormenting animals or putting them in danger.
What organisers must observe
- A Challenge may not set a task that can only be completed at the risk of serious injury. Nor may it reward such a risk, for example with bonus points for “more courage”.
- If a task is physical, it must be set so that it can be completed without danger: with protective equipment, on safe ground, in an environment meant for it.
- Write into your Challenge's rules what is not allowed if the task might tempt people to do it. “Not in road traffic”, “only with a helmet”, “not near water” costs one sentence and prevents entries we would have to remove.
- If the task breaches this section, we reject a Challenge with a real prize before approval or require a change; for a running Challenge, we ask the organiser to cancel it and, if they refuse, suspend the account ⟨cancellation by us directly to follow once built⟩.
- At on-site events, you are responsible for safety at the venue: barriers, supervision, first aid, youth protection and alcohol rules are governed by the laws on events and by the house rules. ipixvent is not on site.
What participants must observe
- You take part on your own responsibility. Check for yourself whether you can complete a task safely. The fact that a task has been set does not mean that it is safe for you.
- If a task can only be completed with danger, don't take part and report the Challenge (section 18). Setting a task is no free pass for the entry.
- An entry that breaches this section is removed and taken out of the scoring, even if the task suggested it.
Allowed
- Sport with the usual protective equipment and in the environment meant for it: skating in the park with a helmet, climbing indoors or with a rope, martial arts in training, parkour on safe ground, water sports with a life jacket.
- Performances by professionals with safety measures, such as stunts, fire shows or acrobatics, if it is recognisable that they are professionals and how they are secured.
- Documentary and educational content, such as first aid, safety training or reports on accidents, if the entry does not instruct people to copy it.
What happens
Entries under this section are removed. Anyone who sets a dangerous task does not get the Challenge approved or must cancel it, and may be warned or suspended. Anyone who repeatedly posts dangerous entries is suspended. If there is acute danger to life or health, we inform the authorities (Art. 18 DSA).
4. Violence and hate
Not allowed
- Showing violence against people or animals in order to celebrate it, play it down or encourage others to copy it. Real violence with injured or dead people, including as a “shock video”.
- Threats against persons or groups: “I know where you live”, announcing violence, calling for violence (dangerous threat, § 107 StGB, the Austrian Criminal Code; incitement to criminal offences, § 282 StGB).
- Hate speech: degrading people because of their origin, skin colour, religion, belief, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age or language, calling for hatred or violence against them or portraying them as inferior (incitement to hatred, § 283 StGB).
- Symbols, slogans, salutes and glorification of National Socialism (Verbotsgesetz, the Austrian Prohibition Act, in particular §§ 3g and 3h; Abzeichengesetz, the Austrian Insignia Act). Denial or trivialisation of the Holocaust.
- Propaganda for, recruitment by or glorification of terrorist organisations and acts (§ 282a StGB). We remove such content immediately and report it to the authorities; for removal orders under the EU Regulation on terrorist content online (TCO Regulation 2021/784), the one-hour deadline applies.
- Names, profile pictures, bios, comments and chat messages that glorify violence or incite hatred. The rule applies everywhere, not just in videos.
Allowed
- Martial arts, violence in sport within the rules, fiction and games, if it is recognisable that it is sport, a game or a story.
- Reports, education and remembrance culture that show violence or hate in order to document or condemn it, with recognisable context.
5. Harassment and bullying
Not allowed
- Deliberately tearing a person down: insulting, mocking or exposing them, degrading their appearance, their body, their origin or their entries. This applies in comments, in a Challenge's chat, in stories, in entries and in your profile.
- Repeated, unwanted contact after someone has said “no” or has blocked you. Creating new accounts to keep reaching someone.
- Inciting others to gang up on a person: coordinating comments, votes or reports in order to hit someone.
- Sexual harassment: unwanted sexual remarks, requests or images. Anyone who does this persistently commits a criminal offence (§ 107c StGB); on site, § 218 StGB may also apply.
- Spreading false claims of fact about someone or verbally abusing someone (defamation § 111 StGB, insult § 115 StGB, false accusation § 297 StGB, injury to honour and damage to credit § 1330 ABGB, the Austrian Civil Code). Harassment via the internet is a criminal offence (§ 107c StGB), as is persistent stalking (§ 107a StGB).
- Using screenshots from the chat or from comments to expose someone.
Allowed
- Criticism of an entry, a Challenge, a prize or a decision, even sharp criticism, as long as it relates to the matter and does not degrade the person.
- Satire and humour that do not deliberately hurt anyone.
What you can do yourself
You can block any profile: you then no longer see each other, no profiles, no entries in the feed, no comments; following, liking and rating are not possible between you. The person is not notified. Leaderboards and participant lists are not affected. Blocking does not replace moderation: anyone who behaves badly should also be reported. You can hide individual entries for yourself.
6. Self-harm, suicide, eating disorders
Not allowed
- Showing, instructing or glorifying self-harm, suicide or eating disorders, or presenting them as a solution.
- Challenges and tasks that encourage them: starving, vomiting, cutting, choking, holding your breath, “who can last longer”.
- Urging others to self-harm or suicide or mocking them for it, even as a “joke”.
Allowed
- Talking about your own experiences in order to help or to seek help, without showing or describing methods.
- Education and pointers to support services.
Help
If you or someone close to you is not doing well: in Austria, the Telefonseelsorge (telephone counselling service) can be reached around the clock and free of charge on 142. In acute danger, call 144 (ambulance) or 112 (European emergency number). We remove entries under this section and may contact the person if we have the impression that they need help. If a life is in immediate danger, we inform the authorities.
7. Nudity and sexual content
Not allowed
- Nudity and sexual acts, real or drawn, even if only implied or “just for a moment”. This applies to videos, photos, stories, livestreams, profile pictures and descriptions.
- Sexualised depictions aimed at arousal: poses, zooms, innuendo, sexual offers and solicitation.
- Any sexualised depiction of minors or of persons meant to appear to be minors. This is a serious criminal offence (§ 207a StGB). We remove it immediately, permanently suspend the account and file a criminal complaint.
- Intimate recordings of others without their consent, even if they were once made consensually (see section 8).
Allowed
- Sportswear, swimwear and dancewear in a fitting context, such as swimming, yoga or dance.
- Education and art without explicit depiction, with recognisable context.
8. Privacy and people being filmed
Other people can be seen in almost every entry. The rule is simple: anyone who is recognisably visible must agree to it.
Not allowed
- Showing a person recognisably who does not want this, or whose interests are harmed by it: embarrassing situations, emergencies, illness, grief, private moments (protection of personal images, § 78 UrhG, the Austrian Copyright Act; personality rights, § 16 ABGB).
- Recordings of intimate areas: in changing rooms, toilets, showers, bedrooms, under clothing (“upskirting”). This is a criminal offence (§ 120a StGB), as is secretly recording conversations (§ 120 StGB).
- Doxing: publishing or passing on other people's addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, vehicle registration numbers, employers, ID documents, health data or whereabouts, in an entry, in a comment or in the chat.
- Publishing other people's private messages, chats or profiles without their consent.
- Filming or photographing children without the consent of their parents or guardians (section 15).
- Filming people who have told you that they don't want it, or who are visibly turning away.
Allowed
- People who happen to be visible in the background of a public place and are not the focus.
- People who have consented: friends who take part, an audience that knows it is being filmed.
For organisers
If there is filming or streaming at your event, tell the guests beforehand: in the description, at the entrance, before it starts. Anyone who does not want to be filmed must have the opportunity to say so. For recordings you make yourself, you are the controller under data protection law.
If you are affected yourself
If you appear in an entry and don't want to, report it with the reason “Something else” and add that you are the person shown. We check whether § 78 UrhG applies and remove the entry or require that you be made unrecognisable. Without an account, write to support@ipixvent.com.
9. Authenticity: account, name, votes
One account per person
- You have one account. Second accounts used to vote more often, take part more often, get around a suspension or keep harassing someone are not allowed. We suspend all accounts involved.
- You give your real date of birth. Accounts of people under 18 are deleted.
- You don't pass on your account, don't sell it and don't use anyone else's account.
Username and display name
- Your username consists of a–z, 0–9 and _, and does not begin or end with _. You can change it every 30 days, and your display name every 7 days.
- No name may pretend that you are someone else: no other people, no other brands or companies, no role you don't have. Names such as “ipixvent”, “Admin”, “Support”, “Moderation” or additions that fake a verified badge are not allowed.
- You may only use the name of a well-known person or brand if you are that person or represent them. Fan and parody accounts must say so clearly in the name or in the bio.
- We can reset your display name to your username and remove profile links if they break these guidelines; for a profile picture, bio or username, we ask you to change it. We tell you this, with reasons.
Pretending to be someone else
A profile that impersonates another person, a company, an authority or ipixvent itself, with someone else's picture, someone else's name or a pretended role, is suspended. There is a dedicated report reason for this: “Impersonating someone else”.
No fake votes, no bots
- Buying, selling, swapping or arranging votes is not allowed. This applies to stars, followers, comments and everything that counts in a scoring or towards XP.
- Automated accounts, scripts, click farms or services that supply votes, views or followers are not allowed. Nor is automated reading of the app (scraping).
- Offering gifts, discounts or perks in exchange for stars (“5 stars and you get a discount”) is vote buying and not allowed.
- Inviting friends to watch and rate honestly is fine. Telling them which stars to give is not.
What happens
Bought, arranged or automated votes are removed. Leaderboards and XP are recalculated; a placing can drop retroactively. The entry can be disqualified, and the account warned or suspended. A prize or perk obtained this way can be declared invalid by the organiser or the partner. This is in line with the terms of the Season programme.
AI-generated and heavily edited content
- If an entry has been generated with AI or edited so that it looks real although it isn't, label this in the description, for example with “AI-generated” or “edited”.
- Colour correction, cropping, filters, music and recognisably artistic styles don't need a label.
- An organiser can exclude AI entries in the Challenge's rules. An AI entry is then grounds for disqualification.
- Not allowed: AI images or videos of real people saying or doing something they did not say or do, and anything that breaches sections 4 to 8, whether real or generated.
10. Fair competition
For everyone
- Each person has one vote per entry. It is final. A weighted average is calculated from the votes; a few votes weigh less than many.
- Sabotage is not allowed: 1-star campaigns against competitors, coordinated reports to get an entry removed, disruption in the chat to drive others away.
- Stick to the task and to the Challenge's rules. An entry that does not fulfil the task can be disqualified.
- Only upload entries that were made for this Challenge, if the rules require it. Passing off old entries as new is deception.
For the jury
- You rate according to the task, not according to who you like. You don't rate entries by people with whom you have a close personal or business connection; let the organiser know beforehand.
- You don't make arrangements with participants, don't accept anything and don't let yourself be influenced.
- You don't take part yourself in the Challenge you are judging.
For organisers
- You don't take part in your own competition. This is stated in the terms of participation of every Challenge.
- You don't favour anyone: no arrangements with individual participants, no rating based on who you know, no changing the rules afterwards to produce a particular result.
- You don't exclude anyone arbitrarily. Warnings, disqualifications and blocks need a reason, and the person sees it. Anyone who excludes people without a comprehensible reason or in a discriminatory way breaks these guidelines; then we step in.
- The prize must be real and handed over as it was advertised. It is not paid out in cash and not exchanged. An invented prize or one that is not handed over is fraud against the participants and grounds for a suspension.
- Taking part is free. There is no way to buy or improve your chance of winning.
- Managers you appoint for your Challenge (management, moderation, admission) act on your behalf. The responsibility remains with you.
At on-site events
Anyone who has a spectator ticket and has been checked in at the entrance can vote, one vote per person. Participants don't vote. Passing on tickets in order to vote several times, or getting around the entrance check, is manipulation.
In Time Challenges
Rounds have deadlines. Entries after the deadline don't count. Round videos are deleted 7 days after the end; the result remains.
The “Reliable” badge
The badge is calculated from your entries, your votes, your average, your time on ipixvent and whether your account has been free of sanctions in the last 180 days. A warning or suspension costs you the badge. It comes back once the conditions are met again.
11. Copyright and music
Not allowed
- Uploading other people's videos, photos, music, texts, logos or trademarks without holding the rights to them. The fact that you may own a recording privately (§ 42 UrhG, private copy) does not mean that you may upload and publish it.
- Submitting other people's entries from ipixvent or from other platforms as your own, even if cut, mirrored or with new sound.
- Using music in entries that does not come from the app's library, unless you hold the rights to it yourself (your own composition, your own recording with all rights, an express licence).
- Other people's music playing in the background while you record, for example from the radio, a speaker or at an event. It is protected too. If you want music in your video, pick a sound from the library; the app then records without the microphone.
- Uploading an entry that we removed for a rights infringement again, even if altered or via another account.
- Showing other people's brands and logos in a way that fakes a collaboration or sponsorship.
Music library
You may use the tracks in the app's library in your entries on ipixvent. Tracks owned by ipixvent itself are marked “ipixvent Original” on their sound page: you may also share your own entry with such a track on other platforms, for example on TikTok, Instagram or YouTube, but not for advertising or paid collaborations. There, the platform may show a notice about the music; that is not a breach. All other tracks are licensed to us and stay in the app. For no track may you download the song on its own, extract it or use it outside your entry. If a licence ends, the track disappears from the library; entries that already use it stay unchanged, because the sound is part of the video file. If we have to remove an entry because of this, we tell you, with reasons.
Allowed
- Everything that copyright law permits without consent, such as quotations within the legal limits, parody and caricature, if it is recognisable that they are such.
- Content under free licences within the terms of that licence, with attribution if the licence requires it.
Reporting an infringement
If you are a rights holder, report the entry in the app with the reason “Copyright infringement” or write to support@ipixvent.com. We need: which entry (link or ID), which work is affected, why you are entitled, your name and email address, and confirmation that you are providing this information to the best of your knowledge. We remove the entry promptly if the report is justified and inform the person who uploaded it, with the opportunity to respond. Anyone who repeatedly infringes other people's rights is suspended.
12. Advertising and labelling
Advertising in the app
Ad spaces in the app are allocated only by ipixvent. Every ad is labelled “Ad” and states who paid for it. Ads are not selected based on what you watch and are not targeted at you personally. No one else may sell ad spaces in the app, imitate ads or pass off entries as an “ad from ipixvent”.
Paid entries
- If you receive money, products, discounts or other benefits from someone for an entry, a story or a livestream, or if you are promoting your own business, label this recognisably: for an entry in a Challenge, with the “Paid partnership” switch when you submit (you can add it later as long as you can still edit the caption), and the label then appears on the entry in the feed; for stories and livestreams, in the description, for example with “Advertising”, “Ad” or “paid partnership”. This is required by § 6 ECG (Austrian E-Commerce Act), § 26 MedienG (Austrian Media Act) and the UWG (Austrian Unfair Competition Act; Annex, item 11: disguised advertising is unfair).
- A Challenge that is organised by a company, or whose prize is provided by a company, is recognisable as such: the terms of participation name the organiser and “Provided by”. Don't conceal this.
- If a label is missing, we require it or remove the entry.
Season programme partners
Perks in the Season programme are offers from the partners named and are labelled as such. Partners do not receive any personal data. Partners and advertisers may not contact users via the app or trade perks for votes.
Not allowed
- Advertising for things that sections 13 and 14 prohibit.
- Misleading promises: invented prizes, invented discounts, “guaranteed” winnings, false scarcity.
- Advertising disguised as an entry by a private individual, or reviews that are paid for and don't say so.
13. Spam, fraud, regulated goods
Not allowed
- Masses of identical or meaningless comments, chat messages, mentions, invitations or follow requests. Chain letters. Entries that consist only of links.
- Links to phishing, malware, scam sites, fake shops or pages that ask for login details.
- Fraud of any kind: advance-fee fraud, “investment” promises, crypto or pyramid schemes, fake tickets or vouchers, selling accounts, votes or followers.
- Selling, brokering or promoting illegal drugs, prescription medicines without authorisation, weapons, ammunition, explosives, stolen goods, counterfeit branded products, fake ID documents.
- Promoting gambling without a licence, betting, alcohol or tobacco as a Challenge task, or animal trading that breaks the law.
- Commercially reselling or forging tickets reserved via the app.
Allowed
- A mention of your own project, your shop or your channel, labelled in accordance with section 12 and to an extent that doesn't flood anyone.
- Profile links from the app's catalogue.
14. Illegal content
Whatever is a criminal offence or prohibited in Austria is not allowed on ipixvent. Without claiming to be complete, and in each case with the everyday sentence first:
- Hate speech against groups: incitement to hatred, § 283 StGB.
- Threats and extortion: dangerous threat, § 107 StGB; extortion, § 144 StGB.
- Harassment, stalking: § 107a and § 107c StGB.
- Exposing and defaming people: §§ 111, 115, 297 StGB; § 1330 ABGB.
- Intimate recordings without consent: § 120a StGB; secret audio recordings: § 120 StGB.
- Sexualised depiction of minors: § 207a StGB. Grooming (initiating contact with minors): § 208a StGB.
- Neo-Nazi activity (Wiederbetätigung): Verbotsgesetz, in particular §§ 3g, 3h; Abzeichengesetz.
- Terrorist propaganda: § 282a StGB; TCO Regulation (EU) 2021/784.
- Incitement to criminal offences: § 282 StGB. Instructions for criminal offences, for example on explosives, burglary or fraud.
- Drugs: Suchtmittelgesetz. Weapons: Waffengesetz (Austrian Weapons Act).
- Other people's works and images: Copyright Act (UrhG), in particular § 78. Other people's trademarks: Markenschutzgesetz (Austrian Trade Mark Protection Act). Unfair competition: UWG.
- Cruelty to animals: § 222 StGB.
We remove such content as soon as we become aware of it. If we suspect a criminal offence that threatens people's life, health or safety, we inform the law enforcement authorities (Art. 18 DSA). We respond to lawful orders from courts and authorities in accordance with Art. 9 and 10 DSA. We do not monitor entries generally (Art. 8 DSA), but we do review voluntarily when we see a reason to (Art. 7 DSA).
15. Minors
- ipixvent is for ages 14+. You give your date of birth when you create your account. If we have reasonable grounds to suspect that you are younger, we suspend the account until the question has been clarified; you can contact support@ipixvent.com with proof. Accounts of people under 14 are deleted.
- Age rating per Challenge. You can create Challenges from 18. Whoever creates a Challenge chooses: 14+, 16+ or 18+ — and vouches that the task, entries and chat fit it. 14+ means: nothing that endangers or disturbs children of this age — no violence, no nudity, no alcohol, no drugs, no dangerous dares. 16+ may show topics relevant to teenagers (going out, relationships, competitions with physical contact), but no nudity, no intoxication, no weapons. 18+ is for everything that only adults should see — within these guidelines, which apply to everyone. An age rating that is set too low is a breach by the organiser; we raise it or take the Challenge offline.
- A Challenge's chat follows its age rating. In chats where minors are present, the same rules apply — and we look more closely at harassment.
- Children in entries: only with the consent of their parents or guardians, only in an innocuous context, never in dangerous tasks, never in a sexualised way, never with details that could be used to find them (school, club, address).
- No Challenges aimed at or intended for children under 14. No calls for children to take part.
- At on-site events, the youth protection laws of the relevant federal state apply. The organiser is responsible for this. Only people aged 14+ can use the app itself and vote, and only within the event's age rating.
- Breaches of this section that endanger children lead to an immediate permanent suspension and a criminal complaint.
16. Rules by feature
Entries (videos and photos)
All of the sections above. The description is part of the entry; it too may not contain anything these guidelines prohibit. An entry that is removed from a Challenge disappears from the feed, from your profile and from the scoring.
Stories
Stories belong to a Challenge and are posted by its organiser. They are visible for 24 hours and are then deleted. The guidelines still apply in full; “it'll be gone soon” is no exception. You report a story directly in the story, using the flag at the top right. If it breaks the guidelines, we remove it before it expires.
Comments
Comments are public to everyone who is signed in. Criticism yes, degradation no (section 5). You can delete your own comments. The organiser can hide comments in their Challenge. Whoever posted an entry cannot delete other people's comments under it, but can report them. Removed comments are invisible to everyone.
A Challenge's chat
- The chat belongs to the Challenge. The organiser moderates it: they can remove messages and mute people, in each case with a reason that you can see.
- Anything the organiser doesn't deal with, or anything they write themselves, you can report to us.
- Messages are deleted automatically 3 days after the end of the Challenge, and mutes along with them.
- No flooding, no mention spirals, no passing on chat content to expose someone.
Livestreams
- Whoever streams is responsible for everything that can be seen and heard in the broadcast, including guests, audience and background.
- If a stream breaks these guidelines, we end the livestream and withdraw the booked live package. If it happens again, we block the live feature: we then do not enable any further livestreams. For serious breaches, we suspend the account. What happens to the amount paid is set out in the Terms of Use, section 12.3.
- Within your booked broadcast time, you can pause and resume the stream; once the broadcast time has run out, you can only continue with a purchased extension.
- If a stream is recorded, the same rules apply to the recording as to an entry.
On-site events
- At the venue, the organiser's house rules and the laws on events apply. Tickets from the app are checked in at the entrance; payment is made on site.
- Behaviour at the venue is a matter for the organiser. You can still report to us what happens in the app, such as entries, chat and votes.
- Filming and streaming at the venue: section 8.
Profile, bio, links
Username, display name, profile picture, bio and links are subject to the same rules as entries. Profile links are only possible as handles from the app's catalogue; they must not lead to content that is prohibited here.
Following, inviting, blocking
Follow requests and invitations are not a means of pressuring anyone. Blocks apply in both directions and must not be circumvented using second accounts.
17. What we do
How we review
- We learn about breaches mainly through reports (section 18). We also look at content when we have a reason to, such as irregularities in votes or tips from outside.
- Every report lands in a review queue for the ipixvent team. A person looks at it and decides. Today we do not use any automated content detection; no program removes entries on its own.
- Entries are not reviewed before publication. A Challenge with a real prize is looked at by us before approval.
- We work carefully, objectively and proportionately, respecting the rights of everyone involved, including freedom of expression and the right to criticise (Art. 14(4) DSA).
Two levels: Challenge and platform
There are actions by the organiser within a Challenge and actions by ipixvent for the whole platform. The two must be kept apart.
| Who | Action | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Organiser | Warning in the Challenge | Your participation continues. You see the notice in the Challenge. |
| Organiser | Disqualification | Your entry disappears from the feed, from your profile and from the scoring of this Challenge. |
| Organiser | Block from the Challenge | Like disqualification, and additionally recorded as a block. You cannot re-enter this Challenge. |
| Organiser | Remove message, mute | In this Challenge's chat. With a reason. |

| ipixvent | End livestream, block live feature | The broadcast ends, and the booked live package is withdrawn. For repeated breaches in the stream, we do not enable any further livestreams. What happens to the amount paid is set out in the Terms of Use, section 12.3. |
Which action when
- We choose the mildest action that ends the breach. For a first, minor breach, removing the content or a warning is usually enough.
- As a rule, we warn you beforehand and give you the opportunity to remedy the breach. This does not apply if the breach is so serious that we have to act immediately, or if it cannot be remedied.
- Immediate permanent suspension for: depictions of abuse, terrorist propaganda, threats of violence, trading in illegal goods, prize fraud, circumventing a suspension, deliberately endangering others.
- Repetition: anyone who continues to break the same rule after a warning is suspended temporarily; anyone who carries on after that, permanently. In doing so, we look at the number, proportion, severity and intent of the breaches (applying Art. 23 DSA by analogy).
- Warnings and suspensions remain recorded in your account for as long as it exists. After 180 days without a new action, they no longer count for the “Reliable” badge.
Every action comes with reasons
If we remove something or restrict your account, a message in the app tells you without undue delay (Art. 17 DSA); for a suspension that prevents you from signing in, we write to you ⟨by email to your account's address, once sending is built⟩:
- what we did and how long it applies,
- what it concerns (which entry, which message, which Challenge),
- why: which section of these guidelines, which clause of the Terms of Use or which law the content breaches, and what we base that on,
- whether a report or our own review was the trigger (you will not find out who reported),
- that a person made the decision,
- how to appeal.
We only leave out the reasons if a law or an authority prohibits us from giving them, or in the case of mass spam (Art. 17(2) DSA). Actions by the organiser within a Challenge carry the reason they give; it too is visible to you.
Appeal
- You can appeal against any action within six months. Write to support@ipixvent.com from your account's email address, name the action (the message in the app is enough) and say why you think it is wrong. Appeals are free of charge.
- A person reviews it afresh, where possible not the person who made the decision. You receive a reply with reasons.
- If the action was not justified, we reverse it: the content comes back, the suspension ends, the warning is deleted, and leaderboards and XP are recalculated.
- If you want to appeal against an exclusion or a block by the organiser within a Challenge, you do so directly in the app: on the Challenge's page, below the reason for the action, once per action and up to 48 hours after the end of the Challenge. The Challenge's team decides and replies to you with reasons. If it does not reply within 72 hours, we decide. If you consider an exclusion arbitrary or discriminatory, you can also report this to us; we then review it under section 10.
- If someone repeatedly sends manifestly unfounded appeals, we do not process their appeals for 30 days. We announce this beforehand.
- Independently of this, you can complain to the Digital Services Coordinator (KommAustria, the Austrian Communications Authority, whose office is RTR, the Austrian Regulatory Authority for Broadcasting and Telecommunications; Art. 53 DSA) and take the matter to court.
Circumvention
Anyone who circumvents a suspension with a new account loses the new account as well. Anyone who uses another account to get around a mute, a disqualification or a block is suspended.
18. How to report
In the app
- On every entry, comment, profile, chat message and Challenge, you will find “Report” in the menu. Your own entries cannot be reported.
- You choose a reason: Violence (depiction of violence, threats or calls for violence), Hate or insult (degrading people or groups), Sexual content (nudity or sexual acts), Spam or fraud (advertising, chain letters, deception), Copyright infringement (other people's material without permission), Impersonating someone else (false name, someone else's picture, pretended role) or Something else. For “Something else”, a short description is required; otherwise it is optional. A description always helps.
- There is one report per person and target. If you chose the wrong reason, you can correct it.
- The reported person does not find out who reported them.
By email
Without an account, as a rights holder, as a person shown or as an authority, you write to support@ipixvent.com. So that we can act, we need (Art. 16 DSA): which content (link, username, title of the Challenge or ID), why you think it is unlawful or breaks these guidelines, your name and email address (not required for reports of child sexual abuse) and confirmation that you are providing this information in good faith and to the best of your knowledge.
What happens next
- After you send it, the app confirms that the report has been received: with a short notice and a message in your inbox. Once a decision has been made, you receive a message in your inbox. We confirm reports made by email by email.
- A person reviews the content. Clearly criminal content and acute dangers are dealt with first.
- You find out what was decided: removed or not. If you disagree with the decision, you can appeal (section 17).
Reporting is not a weapon
Knowingly false, duplicate or manifestly unfounded reports are a breach of these guidelines, as are coordinated mass reports against a person or a competing entry. If someone does this repeatedly, we do not process their reports for 30 days, and the account may be warned or suspended. We announce this beforehand.
Emergency
If someone is in immediate danger, contact the police (133) or the European emergency number (112) first, and then us. A report in the app is no substitute for an emergency call.
19. Changes to these guidelines
We change these guidelines when laws, court decisions or the app change, when new features are added or when we learn from cases. We tell you about significant changes in advance in the app and by email, with the date from which they apply (Art. 14(2) DSA). Each version carries a version number and a date; earlier versions remain available. For the notice period and your right to object, the “Changes” section of the Terms of Use applies.
20. Contact
Questions about these guidelines, reports without an account and appeals: support@ipixvent.com. In the app, you will find “Help and contact” in the settings. We reply in German and English; the reply comes from a person.
